EFEKTIVITAS METODE TWO STAY TWO STRAY PADA PEMBELAJARAN READING COMPREHENSION SISWA KELAS X SMAN 1 NGRAMBE

This research was an experimental research. It was about the use of ‘Two Stay Two Stray’ to teach reading comprehension at the eighth grade students of SMAN 1 Ngrambe in Academic Year 2016/2017. The objective of this research is to find empirical evidence whether ‘Two Stay Two Stray’ method is effective to teach reading of narrative text. A random sampling was done to select two classes out of the five classes. They are class X B as experimental class that consist of 26 students and X C as control class that consist of 26 students. The total both of class is 52 students. The researcher uses observation to get the qualitative data and test to get quantitative data, they are pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-test in experimental class is 65,69 and in control class is 55,85. The mean score of post-test in experimental class is 80,92 and in control class is 69,08. To achieve the four purpose of the present research, the data were analyzed using t-test. The result of the t-test is 1,84. Then, it is consulted with t-table or at significance 5%. The value at t-tabel =1,67. So it can be showed as follows: 1,84>1,67. It means t-test significant and it can be concluded that the result of the research was accepted. It means that the use of Two Stay Two Stray is effective to improve reading comprehension. Furthermore, TSTS can build students’ creativity in learning process.
