NILAI PERJUANGAN DALAM LEGENDA TERJADINYA TEROWONGAN AIR MANGGE

Abstract

One of the cultures which lively exist in Java is folklore. The folklore can be specifically in the form of myth, sage, fable, and legend. One of the products of oral literature which easily discovered in almost every place in Java is a legend, including in Ponorogo Regency, East Java. The popular legend in Ponorogo is Legendary Origin of Mangge Tunnel, formerly came from Gegeran, Widodaren village, district of Sukarejo, Ponorogo regency. This study is aimed at finding out the struggling value on the Legendary Origin of Mangge Tunnel. The method used was descriptive qualitative. The data were collected using note-taking and analyzed by using content analysis. The results revealed that the legend presented the responsibility, struggle, and sacrifice values. Those three values were presented through all characters, both protagonists or antagonist. Those characters gave great sacrifice and devoted their soul as a life choice.
