Literary work is the result of human creation that expresses the ideas, thoughts, understanding, and responses of the author’s feelings. The Anak Rantau novel is a novel that tells about Hepi’s struggles about longing and revenge for Martiaz’s father’s love. Hepi’s patience and hard work paid off with the arrival of Martiaz. This study uses a literary psychology approach with Allport’s theory of personality psychology consisting of traits, attitudes and intentions. This research uses descriptive qualitative method and literary study as the design. The data are analyzed using the Miles and Huberman technique, which consisted of displaying the data, reducing the data, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the personalities of the characters Hepi, Martiaz and Datuk Marajo were able to balance between traits, attitudes and intentions. Hepi has a patient and independent nature. Meanwhile, Martiaz and Datuk Marajo have patient and tenacious nature. In terms of attitude, Hepi is compassionate and cares about others. Likewise, Martiaz and Datuk Marajo are loving and caring. Hepi always shows a passionate intention in reaching his ambitions. From the various personality differences of above figures, it can be concluded that the struggle and sacrifice of a father and son requires a very long process.
