Abstract

One of the most important early childhood developments is language development. Reading is one of the language developments in literacy. The indicators of the development in reading skills are as follows; recognizing letter symbols, recognizing the sound of the initial letters of various object names, grouping pictures that have the same initial letters and sounds, understanding the relationship between sounds and letter shapes, and reading their own names. Reading skills can be stimulated, one of which is with educative wheel media. The research was conducted to find out the strategies and results of developing early reading skills with educative wheel media. The sources of data in this study were school principals, group B teachers, and group B students at RA Aisyiyah Turi Jetis Ponorogo. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method, using a field case study approach. The techniques used in collecting data are observation, interviews, and documentation. From the results of the research, the strategy for developing initial reading skills used is an organizational strategy. The use of educative wheel media as a medium for developing early reading skills shows effective results.
