Abstract

The lack of A3 group students’ self-confidence at TK. Muslimat NU 154 Bani Hasan is the background of this research. The problems can be seen from the majority of students who tend to be passive during discussion, lack confidence in doing the assignment, feel shy to come forward, and strongly depend on others. The purpose of this study is to increase A3 group students’ self-confidence at TK. Muslimat NU 154 Bani Hasan through storytelling method. This research was carried out using classroom action research method. It was divided into two cycles and started with a pre-test. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The data collection technique was carried out through observation and documentation. The research instrument used observation sheet. The research data was analyzed using paired sample t test. The results showed an increase, namely the students’ average score before the action was 14.5000, 17.2000 for the first cycle and 20.9000 for the second cycle. The results of data analysis from paired sample t test showed the value between pre-cycle and cycle 1, t-count value was greater than t-table 5.449 > 1.8331. Likewise, between cycle I and Cycle II, t-count value was greater than t-table 8.748 > 1.8331. It meant that there was significant difference between precycle and cycle I, then cycle I and cycle II. It can be concluded that the storytelling method can significantly increase A3 group students’ self-confidence at TK. Muslimat NU 154 Bani Hasan. Therefore, the storytelling method can be used as an alternative activity to increase students’ self-confidence.
