Abstract

The observation result in TK Darma Wanita Ngraket shows that the students’ gross motor skill is still relatively low. They are not able and reluctant to carry out gross motor activities such as walking on one leg, walking in a straight line, and running. This research aims to improve the students’ gross motor skill aged 5-6 years through the ant dance in TK Dharma Wanita Ngraket. This research is Classroom Action Research which consists of two cycles starting with pre-test. The stages of each cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and documentation. While the research instrument used observation sheet which was then analyzed using paired sample t test. The results showed an increase, namely the students’ average score before the action was 9.2727, the first cycle was 11.2727 and the second cycle was 16.3636. While the results of data analysis using paired sample t test showed that the t count value between pre-cycle and cycle 1 was greater than t-table 6.633 > 1.8125. Likewise, between cycle I and Cycle II, the result of t-count value was greater than t-table 9.931 > 1.8125. It means that there is a significant difference among pre-cycle, the first cycle and the second cycle. From the research results can be concluded that the ant dance can significantly improve the students’ gross motor skill aged 5-6 years in TK Dharma Wanita Ngraket. Therefore, it is recommended for all educators to provide activities that are interesting, fun, varied and useful for the development of students’ gross motor skill.
