Abstract

This research is motivated by the children’s low skill in fine motor and there is no accurate information about the use of collage to improve fine motor skill, especially for writing preparation. The purpose of this study is to improve children’s fine motoric skill in preparation for writing through collage activity. The type of research used was Classroom Action Research. The technique of collecting data used were written test, observation, and documentation. The collected data was analyzed using qualitative descriptive technique. The results showed that the students’ writing ability in the first cycle of BSH criteria was 20.81%, MB criteria was 42.86%, while BB criteria was 31.33%. In the second cycle, the criteria of BSH was 71.43%, MB was 28.57%, and there was no percentage for BB criteria. In the second cycle, the children were able to glue the picture, arrange the collage material, glue the collage material and draw lines in preparation for writing without teachers’ guidance. It can be concluded that collage activity can improve children’s fine motor skill in writing preparation.
