Peningkatan Kemampuan Membaca Suku Kata melalui Montessori Model Large Moveable Alphabet

This research is motivated by lack of understanding about alphabet recognition letters so the children have difficulty in distinguishing “b, d, q, p” letters and etc. The purpose of this study is to describe the increase of children’s ability to read syllables using Montessori Method of Large Moveable Alphabet Model of A Group at Al-Qosim Islamic Kindergarten Gandu Mlarak Ponorogo in 2019/2020 academic year. The type of this research was CAR (Classroom Action Research). This action research was conducted in two cycles; each cycle consisted of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. Data collection techniques used were observation techniques and documentation, taken during the teaching and learning process. The data were analyzed through descriptive qualitative analysis. The results of this study indicated that the children’s reading ability had met the research target of 70%. In the first cycle, 4 children passed the mastery grade and 7 children in the second cycle. The percentage was 40% in the first cycle and 70% in the second cycle. The children’s reading ability increased 30%. It can be concluded that Montessori Method of Large Moveable Alphabet Model can increase children’s ability to read syllables of A Group at Al-Qosim Islamic Kindergarten Gandu Mlarak Ponorogo.
