Kesalahan Pelafalan Fonem Bahasa Jawa Siswa Kelas Menengah di Ponorogo

This reasearch aimed to describe: (1) the form of Javanese phoneme pronunciation errors, (2) the factors causing the Javanese phoneme pronunciation errors, and (3) alternative solutions to overcome the difficulties of pronouncing Javanese phonemes at middle class students in Ponorogo Regency. This research was a case study with qualitative descriptive method focusing on phonological studies. The results showed that 25% of pronunciation errors occurred in vowel phonemes and 75% of pronunciation errors occurred in consonant phonemes. The occurrence of pronunciation errors were caused by: environmental habits, lack of Javanese language lessons exposure at school, and lack of awareness to learn Javanese. These phoneme pronunciation errors can be overcomed by reading and listening to Javanese vocabulary more.
