Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the pronunciation of Standard Javanese at the Islamic Friday Sermon in Cilacap with the Standard Javanese in Jogja-Solo as well as the factors causing the differences. The instrument used to collect data is by using a data card. To obtain valid data, the validity of triangulation theory, construction validity, expert judgment and stability reliability were used. Data analysis in this study used descriptive analysis techniques. Based on the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the difference lies in the pronunciation of vowel phonemes and  pronunciation of consonant phonemes. Meanwhile, the factors causing the difference in the pronunciation of the Javanese Standard Language on the Friday Sermon in Cilacap with the Jogja-Solo were influenced by dialects and the limitations of the Friday Sermon preacher in mastering the Javanese Standard language. However, although the pronunciation is different, it did not cause any difference in meaning. In addition, people thought this phenomenon as something normal.
