Makna Pendidikan dalam Mahar Ilmu Kejawen di Kecamatan Puhpelem, Wonogiri

Abstract

Dowry in learning Kejawen magic has educative meaning before and after getting it. The way of conveying dowry uses things that believed as kind of symbolism. It happens because the tradition of Javanese people who are introvert when conveying or telling something, so they tend to use symbols. This research aims to explore the education value of dowry symbol to learn Kejawen magic. This research is qualitative descriptive. It is the research that explains the result using written word. The research was done in Puhpelem Distric of Wonogiri. The data in this research were the explanation of dowry from the informants. The technique of collecting data involved interview and observation. The result of the study showed that dowry used to learn Kejawen were: kembang setaman (a set of flowers), kembang telon (three different flowers), rooster, mori cloth, incense, opium, and some money. The identified education values of dowry were: religious education, social education, moral education, and culture education.
