Jenis dan Sebab Perubahan Makna Pada Dialog Komik Si Juki

Abstract

Abstract: The research entitled “Types and Causes of Semantic Change in the Dialogues of the Si Juki Comic and Its Implementation as Teaching Material for Anecdotal Texts for Grade X Senior High School” is motivated by semantic changes that occur in words. The meaning of a word is not fixed but may change in its use. These semantic changes can be influenced by society as language users. This demonstrates that language has a close relationship with the social life of society. The data source used in this research is the Webtoon Si Juki entitled Si Juki Lika-Liku Anak Kos. This research aims to describe the types and causes of semantic changes in the Webtoon. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with the data consisting of words or phrases. This research uses the Pilah Unsur Penentu (PUP) technique and the advanced technique, namely the Hubung Banding Memperbedakan (HBB) technique. The results of this research show that the comic Si Juki Lika-Liku Anak Kos by Faza Ibnu Ubaidillah contains the types of semantic change known as widening, narrowing, amelioration, and pejoration. The causes of semantic change found in this research include semantic change due to the environment, the exchange of sensory responses, word combinations, and association. The results of this research are implemented in teaching material in the form of a handout on the linguistic features of anecdotal texts. The researcher hopes that future studies will conduct more in-depth analyses of other Webtoons using semantic studies, particularly semantic change, so that research on semantic change in Indonesia can become broader and more diverse.
