Abstract

This study aims to explore the religious and cosmological symbolism in the Javanese poem Ing Kreteg Kaliwangan Ana Rembulan Jingga by Suripan Sadi Hutomo. The research employs a qualitative approach using semiotic and hermeneutic analysis methods. The primary data source is the poem itself, supported by Javanese mystical literature, symbolic dictionaries, and previous studies. The findings reveal that symbols such as the orange moon, collapsed bridge, tirta (sacred water), and inner flute reflect spiritual crisis, existential search, and the lost connection between human beings and the Divine in the context of modern Javanese culture. The rejection of figures like Jaka Lodhang, Gatholoco, and Syekh Siti Jenar emphasizes that the spiritual experience portrayed is personal and contemplative rather than dogmatic. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of spiritual values in modern Javanese literature and serves as a reference for literary education and local cultural preservation.
