ANALISIS TINDAK TUTUR DIREKTIF DALAM TALKSHOW TONIGHT SHOW (MARET 2021)

Abstract

The directive speech act in the talkshow interaction between the host and the guest star has an important role, as an action to convey the intention and purpose of the speech. The purpose of this study was to describe the form and function of directive speech acts of the hosts of the Tonight Show, on March 1, 2021. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive method. Researcher used data collection techniques, namely data transcription and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique used in this study was Miles and Huberman technique, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions drawing. There were six forms of directive speech acts done by the hosts on the Tonight Show on March 1, 2021, namely the form of request, form of question, form of command, form of prohibition, form of permission granting, and form of advice. Whilst the directive speech act function of the hosts on the Tonight Show broadcast on March 1, 2021, were on six functions, namely the request directive speech act, the question speech act, the command speech act, the prohibition speech act, the permission granting speech act, and the advisory speech act.
