This research is a qualitative study aimed at uncovering the hidden meanings behind the ubarampe (ritual offerings) used in the Javanese srakalan tradition, through Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory. Data were collected through interviews with elders in Jono Village and analyzed using Barthes’ concepts of denotation, connotation, and myth. The analysis reveals that each element, such as perfume, money, rice, flower water, tumpeng, and red and white porridge represents layered structures of meaning that reflect the relationship between humans, society, nature, and the divine. These offerings symbolize not only prayers and hopes, but also serve as instruments for shaping identity and instilling noble values in children. The findings show that the srakalan tradition functions as a symbolic space where culture, spirituality, and life aspirations interact meaningfully within a living sign system in Javanese society.
