Konflik Sosial dalam Film Kembang Api Karya Herwin Novianto: Kajian Sosiologi Sastra

Abstract

This article examines the representation of social conflict in the film Kembang Api using a sociological approach to literature with Lewis A. Coser›s theory of conflict. The research focuses on three aspects: (1) realistic conflicts arising from real or material interests, (2) non-realistic conflicts stemming from emotions or psychological needs, and (3) the positive function of conflict in strengthening group interaction and solidarity. The research is designed as content analysis which used documentation as the data collection technique. Miles-Huberman›s interactive model analysis is employed to help the researcher analyzing the data. The results of the study are as follows: (1) realistic conflict in the form of economic conflict experienced by the character Fahmi due to economic difficulties and pressures, and work conflict experienced by the character Raga due to professional demands; (2) non-realistic conflict in the form of psychological conflict experienced by the character Anggun as a victim of bullying and the character Sukma due to the trauma of loss; (3) the positive function of social conflict in the form of increased interaction and increased solidarity between individuals and groups.
