Wujud Menghargai Alam dalam Cerita Rakyat Gunung Lokon dan Gunung Kalabat dari Sulawesi Utara

Abstract

This research aims to (i) reveal the form of respect for nature in the folktale “Gunung Lokon dan Gunung Kabalat” from North Sulawesi; (ii) explain the importance of respect for nature; and (iii) explain the related instilling of the habit of respect for nature from an early age. A descriptive qualitative method was adopted in this research. This research applies the literature study approach as the main reference in data collection. The object of this research is the folktale “Gunung Lokon dan Gunung Kalabat” from North Sulawesi. Written by Oldrie Sorey, edited by Setyo Untoro, illustrated by Studi Plankton, and laid out by Papa Yan. Published in 2016 by the Language Development and Coaching Agency. The instruments in this research are electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones, and notebooks. The data analysis process of this research was conducted through structured stages. First, inductively and interpretatively. The second is data reduction. Third, data interpretation. The results of this study show that the folktale “Gunung Lokon dan Gunung Kalabat” from North Sulawesi presents valuable lessons on the importance of respecting nature. Through the characters in the story, readers are given an understanding that humans have a great responsibility in maintaining the balance of nature. The folktale “Gunung Lokon dan Gunung Kalabat” also emphasizes the importance of instilling the habit of respecting nature from an early age. Children need to be accustomed from an early age to protecting nature through simple ways such as planting trees, throwing garbage in its place, and caring for other living things.
