Analysis of the Meaning of the Tiktok Movement based on semiotics

Abstract

This study is a descriptive qualitative study that analyzes the representation of meaning in the trending tiktok movement of the Battmana Ansak song covered by Sherine Abdel Wahab. The representation of meaning is analyzed according to Barthes' opinion which focuses on the denotative and connotative meanings in the video. The data was analyzed using the listening and note-taking technique, the data produced is in the form of denotative meaning represented through the song lyrics used, and connotative meaning represented through the movements in the video. The researcher used several tiktok accounts to be analyzed and included in the results and discussion. The movements contained in the trend are signals that represent feelings, emotions, and frustrations of a person based on the song used.
