NILAI SOSIAL DALAM NOVEL KARYA ARAFAT NUR GADIS YANG MENULIS SURAT SETIAP MALAM

Abstract

This research aims to describe the social values contained in the novel Gadis yang Menulis Surat Setiap Malam by Arafat Nur. The forms of values referred to attitudes, behavior or speech found in novel. The approach used in this research is sociology of literatrure. The research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection technique applied is reading, note-taking and classifying. The findings are analyzed by the following steps; describing the findings, classifying, explaining, and drawing conclusion. The results show that manifestation of social values in the novel were in the form of: (i) compassion, (ii) help, (iii) harmony, (iv) politeness, (v) obedience worship, (vi) care, (vii) never give up, (viii) cooperation, (ix) responsibility, (x) patience, and (xi) respectful. The functions of the social values found are; (i) as a guide, (ii) as a fortress of protection, and (iii) as a driver.
