KONFLIK BATIN TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL MENGAPA AKU CANTIK KARYA WAHYU SUJANI

Abstract

Talking about literature and psychology essentially discuss the aspect of the human psyche in a work. One of the discussion of the related literature and psychology discuss about inner conflict. Novel Mengapa Aku Cantik written by Wahyu Sujani experience the inner conflict that is interesting to study. This study is aismed to describe the inner conflict and factors causing inner conflict experienced by the main character. Data collection using the techniques of bibliography and make a note, while the analysis of the research using descriptive qualitative method. The results of the analysis indicated a form of the inner conflict experienced of the main character includes: (i) approach-approach conflict happening beetween Lasih with her husband and her two children, (ii) approach-avoidance conflict, and (iii) avoidance-avoidance conflict happening beetween Lasih and her husband, her two children, Mr. Tarya, and Mr. Haji Kasmin. The content of the inner conflict are reviewed by the psychology literature specializing on the theory of psychology personality by Sigmund Freud. While the factors causing the onset of inner conflict happening beetween the main character with himself and other figures such as her husband, her two children, Mr. Tarya, and Mr. Haji Kasmin.
