ASPEK KEPRIBADIAN TOKOH ARYO DALAM NOVEL SI SAMPAH BERLIRIH KARYA GATOT ARYO

Abstract

Literary work is an expression of feelings, ideas, thoughts, from a person based on the life description presented in a writing. One of them is the novel Si Sampah Berlirih, which describes the main character, Aryo who is tough, confident, ambitious, and independent. This research aims to describe the personality of main character in the novel Si Sampah Berlirih written by Gatot Aryo. The research design used is descriptive qualitative. The data are collected through the following steps: reading, note taking, and classifying the data. Data analysis technique employed was content analysis. The results of analysis showed that the main character’s personality covered; (a). individuality as the subject matter (including an independent person, a confident person, a strong person facing problems), (b). humble (includes a person who has a low self-esteem towards himself and his partner), (c). social encouragement (including personal giving direction to friends and desire to imitate the behavior of others), and (d). lifestyle (includes a simple lifestyle).
