Kalimat Efektif Pada Kolom Berita Koran Seputar Ponorogo Bulan Februari-Mei 2021

Abstract

Language is a symbol of arbitrary sound which one of its functions is used as a means of communication. In its use, language has rule which is commonly referred to grammar. Grammar is used to achieve regularity in language and to avoid deviations. The use of effective sentences is one of grammar realization that avoid language errors. This study aims to examine the use of effective sentences in the news column in the February-May 2021 edition of the newspaper Seputar Ponorogo with a total of 8 news items. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The data are taken using the note-taking technique and then analyzed based on the theory of effective sentences introduced by Zaenal Arifin and S. Amran Tasai as an analytical theory. The results show that in the news column of Seputar Ponorogo newspaper on February-May 2021 edition, there are effective and ineffective sentences which included structural equivalence, parallelism, firmness, frugality, accuracy, cohesiveness, and logic. The researchers found a total of 99 data. From these data, 62 data are categorized as effective sentences and 37 data are categorized as ineffective sentences.
