Feminisme Sosialis dalam Novel Nun Pada Sebuah Cermin Karya Afifah Afra

Abstract

Literary works are the result of the author’s imagination and reflection on social phenomena. One form of literary works is a novel. In the novel Nun Pada Sebuah Cermin by Afifah Afra, social phenomena are reflected in the struggle of characters in an effort to fight against capitalism and patriarchy. Therefore, this study aims to (1) describe the struggle of the character Nun against capitalism and patriarchy in the novel Nun Pada Sebuah Cermin. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through the note-taking technique. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using an interactive model with the following steps: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that Nun’s struggle against capitalism based on socialist feminism is a struggle to get equal opportunities in obtaining jobs, education, and being active in the public sector. Nun’s struggle is a struggle of behavior, words, and thoughts against capitalism. Meanwhile, in fighting patriarchy, Nun’s character is based on fighting against domestic oppression and sexual harassment. Nun’s struggle against patriarchy involves behavior, words, and thoughts.
