Gaya Bahasa Perbandingan dalam Novel Sihir Pambayun Karya Joko Santosa

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the type of comparative language style and its function used in the novel Sihir Pambayun by Joko Santosa. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative with the note-taking technique. The data analysis technique used was content analysis. The results of the study showed that the style of comparative language in the novel Sihir Pambayun included; (1) personification; (2) association; (3) allegory, and (4) antonomasia. The use of these language styles functioned for; 1) attracting attention; 2) causing freshness; (3) creating more livelihood; (4) creating a clear picture of imagination; (5) producing imaginative pleasure; (6) increasing the intensity of the author’s feelings in conveying meaning and attitude; and (7) concentrating on the meaning to be conveyed in a short language.
