Membedah Citraan Novel Bidadari Bermata Bening Karya Habiburrahman Elshirazy

Abstract

Imagery is one of the important things in literary work. Bidadari Bermata Bening novel by Habiburrahman El Shirazy contains interesting imagery to be analyzed. The purpose of this research was to describe visual, audio, kinesthetic, thermal tactile, and olfactory imagery. The theory used in this research was stylistics theory. The research design used in this research was qualitative descriptive. The data taken were in form of words, sentences, and dialogues. The analysis technique included: (i) data investigation, (ii) data reduction, (iii) data clarification, and (iv) data analysis. The result of the research included: (i) visual imagery, (ii) auditory imagery, (iii) kinesthetic imagery, (iv) thermal tactile imagery, (v) olfactory imagery. Those five imageries were used by the writer to reinforce the characters’ characterizations which described setting, reinforced plot, and illustrated event and time in Bidadari Bermata Bening novel by Habiburrahman El Shirazy.
