Abstract

People at recent days greatly prefer to use online news since it offers easier ways to access and share information. One of the most popular Javanese-based online news in Ponorogo is Semua Tentang Ponorogo (SetenPo). The present study aims to investigate Javanese language phonological errors that emerge in SetenPo’s news contents. By employing descriptive qualitative approach in the form of note-taking method, we analyze 16 pieces of written information uploaded by the online news within June 2021. In total, the analysis shows 137 phonological errors in terms of vowel phonemes writings (58%)
and consonant phoneme writings (42%).
